Friday Favorites - Jellycat Bunnies

My girls received some Jellycat brand bunnies from my mom (grandma) for their birthday. Ellerie received a light brown one, and Esme a white one. They have become a favorite in our house, and the little bunnies are already looking very loved. The girls sleep with them for every nap and all night long. They are drug around the house, snuggled with and drooled on. I'm trying to figure out the best way to keep them clean, but they're not supposed to be machine washed. Anyone have any tips besides just wiping them with a cloth?

Even though the bunnies are always present wherever the girls are in the house, I don't have very many pictures. I'll have to take some more, but until then, here is one of Ellerie snuggling Esme's bunny at the house (now, they are pretty set on having "their" bunny), another is of Ellerie from their one-year photo shoot (I've shown this photo before, but It's just too stinkin' cute!) and the other is from their birthday. Ok, so I don't have a picture of Esme with her bunny. I'll have to work on that and update this post with a photo!

Splash Pad

Summer is finally here! The sun is shining bright today and the girls and I are anxious to get out the new water table that was gifted from the girls' Nana (my mother-in-law). Once they wake up from nap, and have a little snack, we'll bring it outside and fill it up! I'll let you know how that goes in a later post...with pictures!

This last weekend, we ventured to a nearby park to try out the Splash Pad with the girls. We venture to this park often. The girls love the swings, slides and just love going for walks around the park. Ellerie likes to people/kid watch and Esme likes to run circles around them (she's my "busy body").

We went to the park Splash Pad last summer, when the girls were about 4 or 5 months old, but they (and their friend Lily) were a bit too young to enjoy it. So, I was excited to see how they would respond now that they can run through the water and fully enjoy it. Well, they loved it, and I can't wait to try out a few more "splash pads" and fountains around town this summer...there are some great ones!

Here is a picture of the girls, with their friend Lily, last summer. They're all a little blue because they are laying inside our blue pop up shade...

Here are a few pictures from our outing this last weekend...

Lily, you need to come join us next time!

Zoo Trip

We've made several trips to the zoo with the girls. Our first visit was back in November when they were only about 7 1/2 months old. I think they enjoyed seeing the few animals they could see, but it is so much more exciting now that they can walk and really explore.

They also know their animals now and can tell you what sound just about any animal makes...if it makes a sound. Each time we visit, I think the girls have more fun than the last time. We now try to make a visit about once a month or so, taking advantage of discount day when we can. When they get a little older, I think we may invest in a membership.

This time, there were a few sprinkles, but it didn't stop us. The cooler weather brought out all the animals so we were able to see a lot of them that tend to hide. The animals were also more active than normal, so this was a lot of fun for the girls to watch.

Only downside of the visit...Esme got pooped on in the "Lorikeet Landing" area by one of birds. It didn't even phase her, but I quickly pulled out wipes to clean her up.

Here are a few (ok, several) pictures from our visit this last week...

Here's one more photo to show that "Beavers" and "Ducks" can co-habitate...although, my husband (a Duck) would surely disagree! :)

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads, grandfathers and father figures. You are all so special!

I want to especially wish a Happy Father's Day to my husband, Jonathan! We are all so lucky to have you! We love you!

Here are a few pictures of daddy with the girls at the zoo this last week...

Oregon strawberries are absolutely, in my opinion, the best strawberries. They tend to be much sweeter, and brighter in color, then berries from other parts of the country (primarily California). It could be, in part, because we can get Oregon berries so fresh, but nothing is better than a fresh Oregon strawberry...particularly the Hood strawberry variety! Strawberries are in season here, and the Hood strawberries are only available for just a couple weeks.

This past week we decided to take the girls strawberry picking. I thought we could be crazy thinking we could manage a couple toddlers in a strawberry field, so we recruited my mother-in-law to help us out. The girls, however, did fantastic and they fully enjoyed themselves...stuffing their mouths with fresh strawberries. They couldn't seem to get enough of them, and Esme even threw a bit of a fit when it was time to head home. She wanted to eat more strawberries.

The funny thing is, however, that the girls have not been terribly excited about strawberries since coming home with our freshly picked berries. Maybe they just taste better on the farm!

Here are some pictures of our little adventure...

We also found a nest of baby birds among the strawberry plants...

Friday Favorites...Playmates

I've not been so consistent with my "Friday Favorites." I know some of you come and look for them. I'm sorry! I'm trying to get one written up every week, but I may miss one here and there. We've had a lot going on around here. I have a lot I want to share, including a trip to the zoo and strawberry picking. Those will come soon! With that being said, here is this week's favorite...

I have several friends with kids, but most of them are much older than my girls. My friend, Whitney, however, has a little girl, Lily, who is just 7 weeks younger than my girls. We try to get together about once a week for play dates. I'm never very good about getting pictures of the three girls because I'm often too busy chasing my girls in two different directions.

A few weeks ago, Whitney caught all three girls together with her phone camera. I just love this picture and had to share it.

Here's one more of the girls that I captured a couple months ago when Lily spent the day at my house while her mommy worked.

Sick Girls

Last week sickness hit our household. Both girls came down with high fevers, coughing and runny noses on the same day. Usually one comes down with it after the other. This time, they must have grabbed germs from the same source. Fortunately in only lasted a few days, but it's hard to see them so miserable and have them not fully understand what's going on. Ellerie's temp even reached 104.9 a couple times in the night. Thank goodness for Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen! The girls took lots of cool baths, spent lots of time in their jammies, snuggled a lot and read lots of books!

I'm so glad they're feeling better. Now mommy and daddy are just trying to fight some crud off! Time for some more vitamin C!!

Here is Esme snuggling when she wasn't feeling well...I get just about the best snuggles ever, when she's sick. She doesn't sit still the rest of the time!

Beach Trip

Mother's Day, this year, just happened to fall on my birthday. Or, perhaps I should say my birthday fell on Mother's Day? Well, regardless, it meant that I got to spend a weekend doing things I wanted to do...well, mostly.

On Saturday, May 12th, we decided to have a family day on the Oregon coast. We drove to Pacific City, enjoyed the beach, ate some lunch and then took a drive to Lincoln City to do some shopping and have dinner before heading home.

The girls experienced the beach for the first time last 4th of July weekend, but were only 4 months at the time and didn't quite fully understand the experience. This time, I full on expected them to be getting dirty while playing in (and eating) the sand.

Well...Esme did.

Ellerie was fine as long as her shoes were on, but when we took her shoes off to "fully enjoy" the sand, it resulted in meltdowns. Poor girl! I think we kept her distracted with sand toys enough to enjoy it a little, and she did enjoy putting her feet in the water (with her water shoes on).

It was a beautiful sunny day at the beach and I can't wait to take the girls again soon. Fortunately, it's only a couple hour drive!

Here are my cuties! (Esme in green, Ellerie is pink/coral)

Friday Favorites - "Green Eggs"

My girls love to eat green scrambled eggs! The eggs are not green because they are artificially colored. To make these green scrambled eggs, I throw in some steamed and pureed spinach and kale before cooking. The end result is green eggs packed full of healthy leafy veggies. Serve with some whole grain cereal, milk/dairy of choice (or sprinkle some cheese on the eggs) and some vitamin C rich fruit (to help with iron absorption) and you have a complete breakfast (or lunch or dinner) meal.

These pictures were taken about a month (or more), a little "outdated," but they still love their green eggs!
